What Size Generator Do I Need?

We are here to help you with that question..  The right home generator size depends on your home’s electrical load, including essential appliances, medial devices and heating and cooling systems, and other everyday power needs.  You can start with Essential Loads - refrigeration, A/C and lighting and expand to whole home coverage.  We can determine which generator is optimal for you based on your needs..

How Much Does a Standby Generator Cost?

Standby generator costs can vary widely depending upon:  home coverage, fuel system availability, site preparation and your existing electrical system.  Depending upon your electrical system, it sometimes costs LESS to protect your entire home than Essential systems.  See this link for more information.

Kohler vs. Generac

Generac is certainly a well known generator brand, but is it the best value available.? We would argue it is not.  Kohler:

Uses commercial engines in all of its generators

  • Is quieter than the competition

  • Produces cleaner power and handles sudden demands such as AC system turn on without 'Hunting"

  • Is more efficient

  • Produces more power at the same rating levels on natural gas

  • Has a superior warranty

  • Has lower cost of ownership

How Often Should I Have My Generator Serviced?

Most standby generators require annual maintenance (minimum).  This maintenance visit will cover:

  • Engine oil and filter replacement

  • Air filter inspection or replacement

  • Spark plug inspection

  • Battery testing

  • Fuel system inspection

  • Electrical connection checks

  • Control panel diagnostics

  • Full operational load testing

Does My Generator Need to Run Periodically?

Yes.  Your generator should not sit idle for an extended period of time.  The good news is we program the generator to take care of this automatically.  Once every two-weeks, your generator will self start and run for 20 minutes.  Any problems or error codes will be stored and transmitted to our monitoring center.
